What is GrAiRiO?

A classic Pre-Renewal Ragnarok Online private server run by AI systems. The AI Director handles quests, dailies, events, and day-to-day help. AI companions are live party partners for Alpha (follow, farm, roles — still polishing). Rates 5 / 5 / 3 · full Pre-RE world (~13.2-era) · English Alpha.

Do I need my own kRO client?

Usually no. New players: download Full client v1.0 (extract → OpenSetup → GrAiRiO.exe). Already have clean kRO? Use Lite installer v0.4 (installer or manual file copy). Want full client without music files? Very Lite (no BGM). Full guide: How to play.

What’s Full vs Lite vs Very Lite?

Full — complete extract-and-play (~6 GB, includes BGM). Official support baseline (testing, dev, patches).
Lite — smaller overlay (~1.9 GB) for players who already have kRO; installer or manual copy of files\. Best-effort support.
Very Lite — full client without BGM (music optional later). Best-effort support. All three end with OpenSetup → GrAiRiO.exe.

Which client gets full support?

Predominantly the Full client from the site. That is the folder we test, develop, and keep patched. Lite, Very Lite, and custom/own kRO folders are fine to play; AI will try to help, but issues that only happen on those setups often come from a different base folder — we may ask you to reproduce on Full before treating it as a real bug. Say which package you use when you report a client problem.

Can I install manually without the Lite scripts?

Yes. Easiest: use Full or Very Lite and just extract. For Lite: copy everything from the package files\ into your kRO folder, then OpenSetup → GrAiRiO.exe. After any base install, apply the day patch: paste patch.grf + DATA.INI into the client root (patch first in DATA.INI). Steps on How to play → Lite and Day patch.

How do I apply a day patch?

Close the game. Easiest: double-click Update GrAiRiO.exe in your client folder (friendly icon — pulls only files that changed from /patches/live/). Manual: download latest-day-patch.zip and paste patch.grf + DATA.INI next to GrAiRiO.exe. Optional System\ copy if names look wrong. Full steps: How to play → Day patch.

Client freezes or black screen at Select Service?

Run OpenSetup and pick windowed mode. Keep the graphics helper files (dgVoodoo DLLs) next to GrAiRiO.exe. Re-extract Full/Very Lite or re-copy Lite files if anything is missing. Ask Ai or Discord install-help if you’re stuck.

Red chat: error loading account settings?

Delete savedata\ChatWndInfo_U.lua and UserKeys.lua if present, fully quit, and relaunch. Or re-extract / re-install the package you used.

Game says a file is missing or wrong?

Re-extract Full/Very Lite cleanly, or re-copy Lite files\ / re-run the Lite installer. Don’t mix files from other servers.

What are the rates?

5× base EXP · 5× job EXP · 3× drops. Mini-boss and MVP cards stay 1×. Pre-Renewal full classic world (episodic gating retired for Alpha). Full sheet: Server details.

How do I create an account?

Chat with the AI Director on the home page Register section. Password only goes in the secure field — then say “create my account”. Same login for the game client.

What is the AI Director?

The main AI system for quests, dailies, events, and many support actions. Whisper Ai in-game, or use web chat after login. Alpha polish is actively improving quest/event quality.

Are AI Companions ready?

Yes for Alpha testing. Five live party partners in Midgard — Sister Lumen (priest), Brother Bastion (tank), Ranger Vale (archer), Scholar Ember (mage), Shadow Kite (thief). You invite them (player-led parties). Whisper when online: follow me · summon · dismiss / farm · styles like tanky / healer / hybrid · expanding modes (tank pull, support, MVP hunt). Full how-to: How to play → Companions. Expect rough edges; Beta is when they should feel solid for everyone.

What is Sandbox (Fashionista / Coach)?

Sealed practice rooms on a 1/1 Novice throwaway (permanent lock for that alt — not your main). Fashionista = looks. Coach = builds / gym. Whisper Ai to request entry after creating the throwaway. Sandbox gear does not export to main Midgard. Competitive AI practice (WoE/BG-style) is on the roadmap — see Whitepaper.

What are tokens?

AI Companion Tokens fuel official AI beyond the free daily slice (resets, premium companion perks later, extra Director/companion services, and similar). On the House AI path we pay the model provider; the house-token economy includes a 25% house fee for servers, development, free services, and keeping the bridge running. Tokens are not pay-to-win gear power. See Rules §9.2.

What is BYO API? (bring your own key)

Optional path for heavy AI users: after you register, attach one xAI (Grok) API key to your account. You pay xAI for model calls; GrAiRiO only takes a 5% house usage fee so free AI and the bridge stay funded.

Any official AI that hits a model counts (quests, companions, help — not only chit-chat).
xAI only — other providers are rejected. We handshake/validate against official xAI before the key sticks.
1 key per account (replace, don’t stack). Same features as House AI — not better loot or XP.
Key UI lands in the account panel; not required at create. Full rules: §9.2.

Will there be wipes / rebalances?

Alpha may wipe or rebalance with little notice. Play for fun and feedback, not permanent investment assumptions. Beta aims for more stability.

Where do I get help?

Discord for community and install help. In-game, whisper Ai, or use the website chat. Read the Rules too.

How do I spot real AI characters vs scams?

Official AI / ops names start with [Ai] (e.g. [Ai] AiOps, [Ai] DirectorNode) and use GM yellow public chat. No tag = not official. Impersonation is banned; name creation is filtered. Report fakes in Discord or whisper Ai. See Rules.

Is everything AI-operated?

Yes — operations and player-facing systems are AI-driven. Roles are described on the AI systems page.
